Rendezvous Back to Route 66

Where it all Began
The San Bernardino Area Chamber of Commerce (SBACC) along with members of the Over the Hill Gang Car Club and the City of San Bernardino are proud to announce the 2nd Annual Rendezvous Back to Route 66 car show being held at San Manuel Stadium, in San Bernardino, on October 10-11, 2014, keeping the Spirit of the Route 66 Rendezvous alive in San Bernardino.
Coming off the success of last year’s event, Judi Penman, SBACC CEO, stated “We learned a lot from last year’s event and we are excited that this year’s event will have new vendors, new events, new displays and a lot of show vehicles.” San Bernardino has a rich automotive history connected to Route 66. The Rendezvous Back to Route 66 is keeping that history alive every year.
This year, the event organizers are bringing back a Route 66 Rendezvous crowd favorite, the Open Header Contest, that is sure to have the fans all revved up. New displays include a Motorsports Show case on Saturday that will include:
-Cars and drivers from NHRA and NASCAR Series
-A display of dragsters, stock cars, sprint and midget race cars, and a display of nostalgia dragsters from the 1970’s.
-Three drivers, along with their cars, from Irwindale Speedway’s NASCAR National Championship Lucas Oil Late Model division. Ryan Partridge, from Rancho Cucamonga and Lucas late model champion and chief instructor of LA racing experience, Toni McCray, from Highland, and Christian McGhee, from Claremont, Irwindale’s Race Truck Series 2013 rookie of the year.
-From drag racing, our featured drivers will be Eddie Fischle who will be in attendance with the MAVTV Dragster as well as the Lucas Oil Dragster that is currently being driven by brothers Brian and Matt Fischle who will also be on hand for the event.
A Top Fuel Sand Dragster sponsored by Lucas Oil and MAVTV and owned by Gregg Suyenaga and driven by Zach Bogner and Victoria Suyenaga.
-John Mihovetz and Accufab’s Lucas Oil record breaking 2010 Mustang Shelby Pro Street car will be in attendance again this year.
Not only will spectators be able to see these cars displayed, but they will be able to experience the thunderous sound and feel the ground shake as the nostalgia dragsters fire up their engines; this will happen four times throughout the event on Saturday. A special raffle will take place that will allow the winners to experience the thrill of actually sitting in the dragster during the “CACKLEFEST.”
The Rendezvous Back to Route 66 came about after the San Bernardino Convention & Visitors Bureau’s Route 66 Rendezvous lost all the funding from the City after 22 years. Throughout those years, the Rendezvous would bring over 500,000 people to the four day event. The San Bernardino Area Chamber of Commerce, in 2013, decided to keep the spirit of the Route 66 Rendezvous alive by putting together a two day classic car show held at the San Manuel Stadium. This event has some similarities to the Route 66 Rendezvous, however, it is a whole new car show event organized by the Chamber.
The funds from this event go toward business support services offered by the San Bernardino Area Chamber of Commerce, human trafficking awareness and the veterans.
